Niko Leung is a Hong Kong-born designer, whose work is craft / narrative-based. Graduated (cum laude) from Design Academy Eindhoven, she is currently based in Bolsward, working at ceramics manufacturing company Royal Tichelaar Makkum in Research/Development Architectural Ceramics, while staying active with her free work. Living and learning in a foreign country, she has become more attentive regarding her own culture, which took her to an internship in the "Porcelain capital", Jingdezhen, China in 2010.

Learning in a Dutch design education culture, Niko delves in the experimental, investigation and expression, she is interested in ways of looking at things from different points of view. Her project titled «From This to These - Progressive Copying, 2011» explores how different interpretations can be drawn from merely one image of an artefact.

After graduation she began to appreciate practicality; from daily housework, cooking, and looking at everyday objects, she feels an understanding of how funtionality can be in harmony with aesthetics, craft and culture. She now hopes to further practice her craft; and at the same time develops curriculum for design education.

Inspired by Bruno Munari.
